Hopkins County, KY - CSX Railroad plans to upgrade two rail crossings in Hopkins County requiring road closures in Nebo and Madisonville August 7th and 10th.
CSX plans to close KY 502 at mile point 7.972 in Nebo on the morning of Friday, August 7, 2009. This crossing at the south edge of Nebo about halfway between Joe Rogers Lane and US 41-Alternate. The roadway is expected to reopen Friday afternoon.
CSX plans to close KY 1178 at mile point 0.022 in Madisonville on the morning of Monday, August 10, 2009. This rail crossing in Madisonville is between US 41-A/Nebo Road and KY 1034. This is at the KY 1178 connector at the end of Noel Avenue. Approximately 4,000 vehicles travel this section of KY 1178/Noel Avenue in an average day. The roadway is expected to reopen Monday afternoon.
There will be no marked detour during these closures. Motorists who regularly travel these routes should be aware of this planned rail crossing work and make advance alternate travel plans.
