Hopkins County, Ky. - Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville worked a 1 vehicle accident with a fatality in Muhlenberg County yesterday. According to the KSP report Teresa Landrum age 49 of Central City was operating a 1995 Jeep Cherokee that was northbound on KY 181 two miles south of Bremen when for unknown reasons her vehicle went off the right shoulder of the roadway.

According to the State Police report, Ms. Landrum overcorrected and then traveled into the southbound lane of traffic. Ms. Landrum once again overcorrected and then lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went down an embankment and struck a tree with the top of the vehicle before finally coming to rest on it's left side. Landrum was transported by helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. A passenger 19 year old Darlene Johnson of Central City was transported to Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Her other passenger, 73 year old Verna Blanchard of Pembroke Pines, Florida was pronounced dead at the scene by Muhlenberg County Deputy Coroner Tim Franklin. Ms. Blanchard was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Bremen and Central City Fire Departments, Muhlenberg County EMS, and PHI Air Medical.
