Madisonville, KY – Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Gentry investigated an accident Monday night that resulted in the victim being transported by life flight to Evansville.
Gentry reports 30 year old Susan Garcia of Earlington was traveling on West Kentucky Mine Road and drove her vehicle onto an old coal temple. Garcia drove to the top and fell several feet to the bottom next to an active CSX railroad track where the vehicle came to rest on its top. The railroad shut down the tracks for approximately 1 and ½ hours while rescue workers removed Garcia from the wreckage.
She was treated at the scene and air-lifted to the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment of her injuries.
The Medical Center Ambulance Service and the Grapevine Fire Department assisted the State Police on the scene of the accident.
