HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Madisonville Community College has partnered with The Muhlenberg County Career and Technical Center through career pathways.

The college will be allowing junior and senior high-school students to take the initial two classes in the Advanced Industrial Integrated Technology (AIIT) program.
 
The lectures for this program will be available online. Once the students have completed the lectures, the college will allow them to complete their lab work at the Muhlenberg County Career and Technical Center under the supervision of Bobby Lee, a MCCTC Instructor.
 
According to campus AIIT Instructor, Jake Hildebrant, the program actually evolved into a working concept when campus personnel realized that Muhlenberg County Career and Technical Center had very similar equipment as the college, allowing students to start in their normal high-school lab surroundings and go straight into a college level lab. Junior students will take entry level AIIT 100 class and then, as seniors, they can take part in the 110 class.
 
Hildebrant went on to state that the students could actually take both courses at high school level and, in return, the program would give scholarships to cover the costs for e-learning materials. The program will be college credited.
 
“Muhlenberg is merely the first step,” said Hildebrant. “From there, we hope to expand out into many other surrounding high-schools in the Western Kentucky region. We will eventually look at other schools, but the schools must have a certain amount of lab equipment compatible with that of the Madisonville Campus.”
 
The college has already implemented the project and has fifteen students currently enrolled in the program.
