Ben Waide Files Intent for State Rep Position

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – In an exclusive interview with iSurf news today, Madisonville business owner and Orthopaedic Physical Therapist Ben Waide publicly announced that he has filed his intent to run for the position of State Representative for the 10th district (Hopkins County) today. This announcement comes after long-time State Representative Eddie Ballard announced he would not be seeking another term in Frankfort.

Mere moments after his official filing of intent, Waide, a native-born citizen of Madisonville, told reporters that his decision to take this step was largely due to his conservative values, which he shares with the majority of Hopkins County citizens.

Waide also commented on his passion for the local employment issues. He stated that he was very concerned about the local coal industry coming under attack and the district jobs that are at stake if that industry was to suffer. He also touched on his personal want to reduce tax burdens on Kentucky families.

Waide is very involved in the Hopkins County community, serving as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 11, active member in the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce and avid supporter of the Door of Hope. Waide also serves as a Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Shawnee Trails Boy Scout council of western Kentucky.

Waide is currently a member of the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, and has served as a clinical instructor for the University of Kentucky, Madisonville Community College, the University of Evansville and Bellarmine University.

“When things get done, busy people do them,” said Waide in response to his already busy schedule. “We’re going to make the time to take care of the needs of Hopkins County. I want to make sure our local values are represented well in Frankfort.”

Waide plans on making a more in-depth public announcement in the very near future for Hopkins County.
