HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – The Kentucky State Police, Providence Ambulance Service and Nebo Fire Department were called to the scene of an automobile accident on US 41A at 4:17 AM Thursday morning. Tommie Edwards, 61 of Madisonville, was operating a 2009 GMC Sierra,
traveling northbound on US 41 towards Providence. Mr. Edwards lost control of his vehicle after passing out due to a medical condition, which caused the vehicle to run off the left side of the roadway into a ditch. The vehicle then struck an embankment and continued northbound crossing a driveway before coming to rest off the southbound side of the roadway in a yard.
Kentucky State Police report that Mr. Edwards was wearing his seat belt.
