HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – From now until December 17, the Pennyrile Allied Community Services - Hopkins County Assistance Center (PACS - HCAC) is actively trying to reach out to Hopkins County citizens in an attempt to help those going through financial hardships during this Christmas season, particularly the children of our community. As iSurf News learned in a recent interview, their method is simply entitled, “A Warm and Fuzzy Holiday.”
The premise of this program is to provide the basics that all children need, as well as some adults, throughout the Christmas Season. Many children will have a less than impressive Christmas this year due to the falling economy, the drop in the local job market, as well as the consistently inflated prices of normal day to day items. It is the PACS - HCAC’s wish to make sure that Christmas is a time of comfort and joy for our local kids.
The PACS - HCAC has partnered with many local businesses and organizations to reach their goals. Around the Hopkins County area you will likely see boxes, some decorated in Christmas wrapping paper, with a sign saying, “Help Make a Warm and Fuzzy Holiday.” These boxes are placed so that you can drop in the basic necessities, such as coats, pajamas, socks, underwear, non-perishable food items, and blankets, to name a few. These items do not have to be new, but preferably in decent condition. Each business that has one of these boxes will also accept donations for this cause.
The Hopkins County - Madisonville Public Library is one of the local organizations that are actively involved in the program. When you visit the library, you will see at least two boxes, one at front door and one at the inner-mall entrance to the library. According to one library official, however, the results have not been quite as well as expected, as very few items have been placed in the boxes.
On behalf of the Pennyrile Allied Community Services - Hopkins County Assistance Center (PACS - HCAC) iSurf News urges you to go through your old clothes or go buy some new ones, grab that extra blanket or coat, or buy a few non-perishable canned goods and go buy the Library or any other business that is involved in this program and make your donation. Every child should have an enjoyable Christmas. If you have any questions, Bobbi Ann Wilcox will be glad to answer them at 270-821-8114.
Make this a great holiday by sharing with others right here in Hopkins County.
