HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - In our continuing series of meeting the characters of Brighton Beach Memoirs, we had the opportunity to meet Blanche. Blanche is the Kate’s widowed sister that Jack (Frank DeFini) and Kate (Mary DeFini) opened their home to.

She along with her 2 daughters moved in six years ago after her husband passed away. You won’t want to miss what Blanche and her daughters, Nora (Katherine Kelley) and Laurie (Morgan P’pool) learn about themselves and about each other as the story progresses.

Performing in her 3rd production at the Glema Mahr Center For The Arts is Sarah Major who will be sharing with the audience the character of Blanche in this production of Brighton Beach Memoirs. She most recently performed the character of Rizzo in the production of Grease and has also been seen in the production The Wiz.

Many of us also know Sarah from her work as a case manager with the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Graduating from Western Ky. University with a degree in Sociology, Sarah came to Madisonville approximately four years ago. In her position as a case manager, she has had the opportunity to successfully match up many volunteers with many children, thus having a great affect on many children. One child that she affects and is her motivation on a daily basis is the love of her life, her 2-year-old son, Wilson.

As Brighton Beach Memoirs hits the stage, you will have the opportunity to watch Sarah bring Blanche to life, sharing with the audience various lessons that Blanche will learn as the show unfolds. Will Blanche and her daughters move out after 6 years in her sister’s house? Will her daughters finish high school? You will find all of the answers starting November 19, 2009 – November 21, 2009 at 6:30 at the Glema Mahr Center For The Arts in Madisonville, KY.
