Hopkins County, KY - For those of you who are Neil Simon fans, you will be especially
excited about the play that is coming to the Madisonville Glema Arts Center in November.
Over the next few weeks we are going to meet each of the characters and this week you will have the pleasure of meeting the Mother and Father of Brighton Beach Memoirs.
A couple in real life as well as in the play, iSurf News would like to introduce you to Frank and Mary DeFini. Frank is a Supervisor of Engineering and Maintenance at the Trover Health Systems and in this capacity is responsible along with his staff of making sure that everything at Trover Clinic stays up and running.
Frank plays the character of Jack who is the Father of the family in Brighton Beach. He started his acting career as the rabbi in the Fiddler on the Roof, and since then has had parts in The Odd Couple, The Wiz, and the Killer Cast Party. Never having acted before, this has been a challenging yet fun experience for Frank. Though petrified when first facing the audience, he also is able to get his energy from the audience and feels like he is able to show others that you are never too old to learn, have fun and challenge yourself to try new experiences.
Mary DeFini plays the character of Kate, who is the Mother and as is typical of all mothers tends to be overworked and does her best to take care of everyone. She not only has her family to take care of but also helps her widowed sister and her two daughters, who also live with them.
Mary, the person, is the mother of three children, two girls and one boy and is also in charge of all of the food service at the First Methodist Church in Madisonville, KY. In her high school and college days, she was very active in the Drama department; however, this is her first role since her college days at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. This is a role that appealed to her and she has found that the character is someone that she can relate to due to her own experiences of living in New York City. Another great part that this role offered to Mary was the opportunity to participate in something with her husband.
Come on out on November 19, 20, 21 at 6:30 at the Glema Arts Center in Madisonville and watch as Mary and Frank take on the roles of Jack and Kate in the Brighton Beach Memoirs.
